Extended Deadline: Survey to Map European Data Infrastructures for 3D Cultural Heritage

In case you are operatoring data repositories (= infrastructures to store and manage digital files and their corresponding metadata such as digital archives, data collections, virtual research infrastructures, etc.) holding 3D data, you are invited to participate in this survey (still open until 18 April 2024).

This mapping excercise is a joint effort of Time Machine Organisation (TMO) and the Europeana Initiative seeking to better understand the existing landscape of digital European data infrastructures facilitating the storage of 3D cultural heritage datasets/digital objects. The questions address various topics covering metadata standards, the quality of 3D data, licensing for 3D data, and how the data can be accessed or shared and by whom.

By answering these questions you will help to better understand how 3D data is being managed and which will contribute to shaping the future of the common European data space for cultural heritage that is currently taking more and more shape.

Online Webinar (in German): Discriminating Language in Archival Records

The team of the German Film Museum (DFF) as coordinator of the EU-funded project "DE-BIAS - Detecting and cur(at)ing harmful language in cultural heritage collections" will host an online webinar aimed at the cultural heritage sector in German-speaking countries. The event will take place on 17 April 2024 (14:00-15:30 CEST) and intends to dive into the topic of discriminating language in archival records and how to deal with that.

The DFF is closely cooperating with the Jewish community, laying a focus on anti-Semitic and Nazi-era terms. The upcoming webinar aims to provide insights into the possibilities and challenges of collaborative work and at the same time invites participants to contribute their own use cases and experiences and to discuss the challenges and needs of cultural institutions when dealing with discriminatory language.

The webinar will be held in German.

New online edition: City Archive of St. Gallen to publish missives from 1400-1650 online
